VIP Opening Art Basel Online Viewing Room June 17-19th
On June 17 and 18, a VIP preview of the Art Basel online platform will take place, which this year refused an offline event. Nevertheless, Art Basel will provide galleries with the opportunity to display works in the Online Viewing Rooms format.
Many galleries actively send reminders to collectors, as well as VVIP previews in pdf catalog format. For example, the Robert Mnuchin Gallery from the Upper East Side of New York (whose son Stephen is a former investment banker at Goldman Sachs, and now is the Minister of Finance in the office of Donald Trump). Among the most expensive works from this catalog are a 1977 painting by Willem de Kooning ($ 9.5 million) and Frank Stella’s eight-pointed star from 1963 ($ 6.5 million), the rarest are a sculpture of David Hammons in the form of an African mask ($ 1.2 million).
On June 17 at 14:00 Moscow time, collectors with VIP status will have access to the Online Viewing Rooms (OVR) galleries, and on the 19th they will be available to the general public.
The art presented on the platform is valued at $ 700 million. For the first time in the fair practice, Zoom tours for key works will be organized.
An intellectual program will also be presented: public talk with artists, curators, panel selection panel, online performances. The schedule is already available on the Art Basel website.
