The UAE won the first place among the countries of the Arab world and rose by two positions, taking the 29th place in the world according to the UNIDO Competitive Industrial Performance Index.
Senior officials emphasize the importance of expanding the capabilities of national personnel, and initiatives such as “Make it in the Emirates”, “National ICV Program” and “Technology Transformation Program” have played an important role in achieving this result.
This index reflects the industrial performance of 153 countries of the world, assessing their ability to produce and export goods on a competitive basis.
It includes various indicators such as technological capabilities, innovation, productivity and trading efficiency.
The UAE is consistently included in the top quantile of the rating, emphasizing its position as an important player in the industrial sector at the regional and international level.
As for the specific indicators in the framework of this rating, the Emirates have improved their indicators, rising from 124th to 115th place in terms of the quality of industrial exports, from 98th to 95th in terms of the share of value added of manufacturing in GDP, from 110th to 97th in terms of the share of manufacturing exports in general, from 17th to 14th place in the share of manufacturing exports per capita.
Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, stated the following: “The vision and directives of the UAE leadership have laid a solid foundation for achieving sustainable economic development. The country has made a qualitative leap in industrial development and has been able to strengthen its strategic position as it moves towards achieving its industrial goals through a set of competitive advantages that strengthen its position as an international center of production and innovation.”
